Our

Culture

child

protection

policy

As our work evolves to more formally engage youth as strategic partners, we are dedicated to promoting an environment that nurtures, protects, and uplifts youth in all aspects. We have ensured that all staff understand their role and responsibility in child protection by partnering with Memphis Child Advocacy Center to engage in their Stewards of Children training. The Stewards of Children training is now a requirement for all Seeding Success team members, and each team member must sign a copy of our Child Protection Policy upon completion of the training.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION

In Our Culture

Seeding Success will be a model organization, serving as a standard for peers, of how to recognize, honor and respect diversity, equity and inclusion. We will demonstrate an internal culture where we are all seen, heard and valued. We will celebrate our dopeness, build our capacity in areas where we must do better and be flexible and intentional in our approach to achieving our aspired greatness.

develop a new wave of leaders

We will recruit, hire, grow and develop the next wave of leaders for the work of transforming the education sector. We will leverage the expertise they bring while also supporting their acquisition of new skills and experiences.

transform decision-making & power-sharing

We will reimagine our processes and protocols to align with the theory of distributed leadership; we will fully leverage the skills, expertise and perspectives of the team in order to make well-informed decisions across workstreams.

earn the reputation

We will earn the reputation of being the most diverse, inclusive, equitable work environment. We will become a model workplace environment for professionals of myriad identities; team members will feel heard, seen and valued. We will be a place where all team members love to be and work.

In Our Work

We will and must respect the voices, perspectives and expertise of our partners while also pushing for a shared vision of equity for our work together. We will advocate for the policy changes that are aligned to our values and mission so that together with our partners, we can change systems and lives.

break barriers

We are committed to becoming a model for inclusive, local data strategy that disrupts racial inequities, values community voice and transforms educational outcomes for the thousands of students served throughout Shelby County.

driven by needs

Seeding Success is driven by the needs of the communities it serves. Our commitment to and value of DEI will result in local and national recognition of our work, and increased partnerships with organizations throughout the community that share the same values; we will proactively seek out the voices of those most impacted by our work (ie. families and community members) to inform our actions and overall strategic priorities and initiatives.

champion inclusivity

We recognize that public policy development and advocacy platforms must incorporate community voice – meeting the community where it is and helping them overcome barriers to participation in the policy process. Our goal will include providing a forum to capture the best available information on the challenges and solutions facing our community to support and facilitate community participation in advocacy efforts to bring equitable and systemic change.

disrupt racial inequities

We will increase our credibility in order to earn a seat at the table among other organizations that are committed to dismantling inequities within the public systems. We understand the intersection between race, class, and social justice. We understand our influence and will use that influence to disrupt racial inequities that exist within our public systems. Additionally, we will actively and intentionally seek to partner with organizations mutually committed to internal DEI structure and that address issues that live at the nexus of these challenges.
