Diana Washington

National Urban Fellow

Diana Washington is a Program Director here at Seeding Success and a National Urban Fellow obtaining her master’s degree from The McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University. Diana served as a former educator who has creatively balanced her political aspirations with her purpose-driven career as a teacher. She was selected as a Teach For America Corps Member, placed in Miami to teach high school math, and served in multiple roles within Miami-Dade County Public Schools.

Diana spent most of her summers working with Teach For America during their summer training program. She would help train and develop novice teachers on various instructional strategies rooted in Culturally Relevant Pedagogy and anti-racist teaching.

Diana also joined the Leadership for Educational Equity (LEE) organization which provides leadership development for leaders fighting to end educational equity. In 2018, LEE assisted Diana in securing a seat as a community council member, and Diana used zoning laws to help make decisions on new residential infrastructure.

As a University of Nevada Las Vegas graduate, Diana received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a minor in Educational Leadership. During her undergraduate years, she was part of various organizations promoting campus diversity. She was also elected to the university’s student government and was initiated into the Eta Chi chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
