FAFSA Goal Weekend!

FAFSA Goal Weekend is finally here, and it is time to make sure all students get the help they need to secure the resources for college.

FAFSA, the Free Application for Federal Aid, is the largest provider of student financial aid in the country.

Beginning today, and running through Super Bowl Sunday, Memphis Talent Dividend, along with community partners, is hosting 7 events around Memphis and Shelby County to provide hands on assistance to those wishing to complete the FAFSA.

Students or parents interested in attending the events should bring the following items if available:

  • 2015 Federal Tax Return of other income documentation
  • Social Security number
  • Photo ID
  • 2015 W-2 Forms or year-end pay stub
  • Email address

Parents who have not filed taxes for 2015 are encouraged to bring their 2014 tax information with them. This information can be used to estimate your 2015 taxes while completing the FAFSA.

Parents who do not file taxes should still complete the application, an option of “not going to file” is available.

Parents or students without an email address can have one created for them during the event.

It is important for students and their parents to complete the FAFSA  as soon as possible. In order to remain eligible for the TNPromise scholarship, students must have completed the FAFSA by Monday, Feburary 15.

The TNPromise scholarship provides free tuition to any state community or technical college.

Everyone has access to the resources they need to attend college. This weekend, learn how you or someone you know can take advantage of those resources.
